Report: HARRY POTTER – PSYCHOBABBLE’S NEW BIBLE!
“Harry Potter and the Shrinks – New Orleans (AP) – A roomful of psychiatrists analyzed Harry Potter and concluded the boy wizard is wonderful…The books are ‘not merely escapes but tools for children and adults to work through their daily struggles,’ said Dr. Daniel P. Dickstein, a pediatrician and resident in child psychology. Almost everyone in the audience of about 100 psychiatrists, psychiatry students and their spouses said they’d read at least one of the Potter books. Three-quarters had read all four…Biassey, who treats mainly adult patients, said he has worked with some children who’ve became obsessed with Harry Potter and take the books as proof that they don’t have to obey adults. ‘They think more in terms of how powerful they can be and get more control than anybody else,’ he said, adding one 10-year-old became so violent her parents called the police. ‘She was ready to take on the police department.’ He said the girl has become less combative since Nancy Drew replaced Harry Potter in her bookshelves. Afterward, Biassey said the discussion made him ‘rethink a lot of things.’ He was most impressed by discussion of how parents can use the books to connect with their children and talk about ethics and values…” (AP, May 8, 2001)

Report: HARRY POTTER: ADULT BOOKS MARKETED TO CHILDREN?
“I do think that, on occasion, the material is not suitable for six-year-olds. But you can’t stop them reading it. I read things when I was very young that disturbed me but I don’t think that was a terribly bad thing. My parents never censored what I read so I wouldn’t say don’t read them to a six-year-old, just be aware some of it does get uncomfortable….If you are going to write about those kinds of things you have a moral obligation to show what that involves, not to prettify it or to minimise it.” (BBC News, September 27, 2000)

Report: CHRISTIAN COMPROMISERS AID WITCHCRAFT REVIVAL
“When Connie Neal first read the Harry Potter books a couple of years ago, she was looking for examples of how the best-selling series ran counter to her family’s Christian values. To her surprise, Neal discovered that the books by J.K. Rowling actually could be used to illuminate traditional biblical precepts in a culturally relevant way. Instead of explaining to her three children why they couldn’t read the Potter series, Neal, a Christian author and activist, created Bible study lessons for them from the books. Each week, her family would gather with friends and neighbors to read the ‘Potter’ books and discuss how the actions of various characters highlighted the Bible’s teachings on right and wrong. Now Neal has collected these discussions in a thoughtful new book, ‘What’s a Christian to Do With Harry Potter?’ (WaterBrook Press, $12.95). Laced with references to the Bible, it celebrates ‘the tremendous opportunities afforded Christians by the Harry Potter books and the worldwide interest they have generated. ‘I propose that the Harry Potter books are deeply moral and can be highly instructive as ‘training in righteousness’ if one rightly aligns these stories to Scripture,’ Neal writes….Neal believes the lightning scar on Harry’s forehead, a result of Voldemort’s attempt to kill him, ‘can symbolize that God cast Satan down like lightning,’ Neal states. ‘Satan’s power is not equal to God’s…’Occult themes have become prevalent, even acceptable, in our culture, so exploring these issues with our children doesn’t pose any new or added spiritual threat,’ Neal argues….”

Report: WITCHCRAFT AND DOCTRINES OF DEVILS NOW ACCEPTABLE
“Three hundred years ago, witches were hanged or burned at the stake. Today, witchcraft is celebrated as a hot teen trend in movies and television shows such as ‘The Craft,’ ‘Charmed’ and ‘Sabrina, the Teenage Witch.’ Now, book publishers are hoping to cash in on this fascination, fanned by the record sales of the series featuring a boy wizard named Harry Potter. In recent months, four publishers have launched new paperback fiction series centered on teenage girls’ involvement in witchcraft. Three series are written for teenagers: the ‘Sweep’ series by Cate Tiernan, published by Penguin Putnam; ‘Circle of Three’ by Isobel Bird, published by Avon; and ‘Daughters of the Moon’ by Lynne Ewing, published by Volo, an imprint of Hyperion Publishers. The fourth series, called ‘T witches,’ is written by H.B. Gilmour and Randi Reisfeld and is aimed at preteens. ‘T witches’ is published by Scholastic, regarded as the key player in series books, given its success with ‘Goosebumps,’ ‘The Baby-sitters Club,’ ‘Animorphs,’ ‘Dear America’ and, of course, ‘Harry Potter.’…Scholastic publisher and editor in chief Jean Feiwel said the new series have merely tapped into an increased teen interest in witches. ‘It’s almost gotten – dare I say it – acceptable,’ Feiwel said. ‘There’s no doubt that fantasy and wizards have become more popular because of Harry Potter. There’s also been a trickle-down effect from the adult interest in New Age practices.’…The intensified teen interest in witchcraft mirrors a surge of general interest in spirituality among young adults, publishers say. Books about spirituality for teens, particularly teen Bibles and teen books about Wicca, are selling strongly, according to Publishers Weekly. Some experts say teen girls are particularly drawn to the goddess and nature worship that is an integral part of Wicca…The new witchcraft series feature provocative covers highlighting occult themes and titles such as ‘Blood Witch,’ ‘What the Cards Said’ and ‘Night Shade.’…” (Scripps Howard News Service, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, August 08, 2001)

Harry Potter Protest And False Accusers
2 Timothy 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, FALSE ACCUSERS, incontinent, fierce, DESPISERS OF THOSE THAT ARE GOOD…
4 Traitors…
One of the signs that we are in the perilous last days of 2 Timothy 3 is found in the fact that some police officers will greatly stretch the truth in order to give Christians citations! Christians who have spent any time protesting sodomy, abortion, pornography, etc. already know this to be the truth. There is no fear of God today. But there IS a God in Heaven. And He is not asleep! The little “chastisements” from the civil servants in uniform (a small favor to business owners) are not overlooked by God.
